1- How does this work?

Sigfox ready devices connect wirelessly to Sigfox Access Station Micro, which connects to Sigfox back-end cloud via ethernet (or 3G/4G), then sends data via API to whatever preferred IoT platform.

2- Is this a private network? Is the Sigfox Access Station Micro compatible with the rest of Sigfox network?

Access Station Micro is part of the same Global Sigfox network (you can’t create a private network), which means that any Sigfox ready devices you connect via the Micro will also connect to any other stations anywhere in Australia or New Zealand or else in the RC4 (ANZ, SouthEast Asia, South America) region.

3- What is the main differences between the 2 options: Standard & Premium?

In the Premium option, Micro can be installed outdoor and includes a 3G/4G USB dongle (SIM card with 500MB/month maximum allocation) as backhaul connectivity and a way for simpler support.

4- Why are those 2 options appealing?

You can get Sigfox network coverage wherever you need it, plug & play.

5- What is the catch?

None, except a 3 months commitment (set up fee + 3 months lease).

6- Instead of leasing, can I buy the Access Station Micro?

We are not authorised to sell the Micro. The low cost of lease also covers monitoring, support & replacement in case of failure.

7- Why is Thinxtra doing it?

To enable IoT anywhere, to convince you that Sigfox solutions are easy to use and implement, and hopefully maintain a longer partnership than 3 months.

8- How do I sign up?

Contact [email protected] with your requirement.

9- How do I connect my Sigfox devices?

There are 2 options to subscribe your devices to the Sigfox network in order to access your data on your web platform or App:

  • Your solution partner might have already embedded the connectivity in its solution, so you don’t need to do anything. Your devices are already paired with the network and its platform.
  • You can purchase connectivity from buy.sigfox.com

Coverage-As-A-Service

Thinxtra is covering in priority urban areas. There are still challenging environments such as deep indoor or remote locations. Now, a single plug & play Sigfox Access Station Micro can cover, for example, large rural areas or underground parkings to connect hundreds of devices in the vicinity. By offering a “DIY” simple and low cost solution for increasing coverage as required, Thinxtra is providing a truly flexible, scalable and interoperable network.
