Monitoring water quality of rivers is a big thing in New Zealand. But this proves to be a bit extreme when Mercury Bay Area School started monitoring the small creek behind the premise, may be because the kids are playing in it.
At the end of the day, Thomas Everth, the science teacher at the school, had a new opportunity (thanks to donation from Thinxtra & Wireless Nation) to introduce IoT in a fun way to his students and start triggering new potential projects.
This also aligns with the worldwide trend of equipping the next generation with the skills they need for the future workforce to adapt to the rapid economic, scientific and technological developments, and its challenges. In New Zealand, Mercury Bay Area School in particular, may be at the forefront of this new trend.
