Thinxtra Smart Council Program v2, Be IoT Smart for Round 2

In 2018, Thinxtra is actively supporting councils to accelerate their transformation towards more efficiencies.

Last February, we launched the first instance of the Smart Council Program (let’s call it the “v1”), which proved to be very successful, as Thinxtra has now engaged with over 60 councils in 4 months.

In June, it is time for the v2, same same but with more interesting trial offers.

Same, same… because:

  • Thinxtra is still supported by the Clean Energy Finance Corporation, a federal government fund, to make IoT a reality for Australian councils.
  • The program is still free to join.
  • The program is still led by Regis Berdaa, who many of you have already met, either at the ASCA conference, or KPMG Smart Cities series or through our nationwide private roadshow sessions. If you haven’t yet, he will be speaking and showcasing IoT solutions at the National General Assembly of Local Government in Canberra on June 17-20. And if you can’t attend, Regis and Ipswich City Council Matt Schultz will present the program in a webinar on June 6th. Register here.

…but more solutions

Due to its success, more Australian IoT system integrators are joining the program to showcase their solutions. This time, Thinxtra has released twelve unique offers for councils, to empower them to start their IoT journey right now. The solution offering in the v2 program enables councils to trial the benefits of IoT to their operations and their communities, risk free.

A snapshot of the solutions available via the program:

  • Water metering and leak detection
  • Manhole monitoring to prevent overflow
  • Unobtrusive in-home elderly care monitoring
  • Rodent infestation control
  • Asset management and geolocation for council’s assets and goods
  • Sites & buildings security monitoring
  • Smart City ideation workshop
  • IoT platform for Councils

and we have added 5 new solutions of high interest:

  • Smart bins monitoring
  • Smart parking
  • Sewer monitoring
  • Food temperature monitoring of fridges and food displays
  • Digital water metering

and more support

Together with our partners, we can help councils build up their application for Round 2 of the Australian Government’s Smart Cities and Suburbs Program funding. Get your Sigfox coverage fast-tracked at no cost, and simply focus your budget application on more devices you would like to connect and the platform solution to monitor those devices that brings real value.

Our partners are excited to help Australian councils become smarter and more efficient with IoT.

Danielle Storey, from Smarter Technology Solutions “Councils have the challenge of managing and maintaining 10,000’s of assets. STS and Thinxtra simplify this management process by remotely understanding parking occupancy, bin fill levels and asset locations and status’, to provide councils the data they need to make informed decisions and to proactively address issues.”

Bigmate is one of the major innovators in asset locating and tracking in the Asia Pacific region. When we spoke with their General Manager, Mr Brett Orr said “Thinxtra with the Sigfox rollout have provided the missing piece, reliable carriage at a reasonable price point, this has changed the commercials around locating low cost high volume assets, it is now viable in Australia, and can open information to business that was previously uneconomical to access! As this market matures we introduce more council use-cases underpinning smart city strategies, delivering benefits now. We also have a platform that ties it all together with one ingestion layer – The IoT Platform”

Michael White, from CCP Technologies “CCP’s solution has been deployed across hundreds of food service and food retail sites in Australia to automate food safety compliance, reduce refrigeration maintenance costs and enhance food quality.  We are bringing IoT to life and driving costs and wastage out of the food industry.  Thinxtra’s Smart Councils Program provides an innovative platform for introducing the substantial benefits which simple, yet advanced IoT solutions like CCP can bring.”

Guenter Hauber-Davidson, from Watergroup “Our Sigfox offer makes bill shock and unnoticed leaks running for years a thing of the past – in a cost effective way!”

Clearly, the Smart Council Program brings numerous benefits. It improves city services and quality of living as well as boosting local innovation. By enabling councils to trial new solutions risk free, they can experiment with new services and gain real- life experience and understanding of IoT .
